to Attack Tuberculosis
Africa-based PC Vision, a distribution and
outsourcing firm, reports a new partnership with Interscopic
Analysis, a US-based software firm delivering microscopic image analysis
through adaptive neural networks over the internet.

Interscopic has built a new web
and software platform that analyzes microscopic images.
Today
most analysis is done manually by trained lab technicians
peering through stand-alone microscopes in search of
markers. Interscopics’ system
accepts digital images from microscopes across the world
over the Internet. The process recognizes objects within
samples using machine vision technology and then categorize
those objects as positive, negative, neutral or undetermined
yielding a suggested diagnosis. The platform has application
in disease detection, especially in the early stages
of an illness when marker concentration is low.
These systems
and processes can also analyze for whole health management,
biochemical defense, and pandemic disease control. At the end of
the day, the labs get a more sophisticated diagnosis, faster and
at a fraction of the cost. These systems will be especially valuable
in developing countries where resources and medical knowledge are
scarce.
